When I first met Robert and Nancy they had already installed their landscape with a design that was unfortunately out of scale. Although they had put lots of effort into their landscape, it somehow did not have the effect they envisioned for their home. We came up with a plan that would transform their entry walk into something much more than the original. We designed a wide walkway to balance their sprawling home, low walls with stout columns to pull the visitor in and loaded up the planters with drought tolerant beauties. By keeping the landscape in scale with the large size of their home, the proper design was accomplished. Good design is about appropriate scale, elements contrasting to provide interest, and a balance of softscape to hardscape. A larger home with a sprawling yard can be challenging, but when it is excuted correctly to scale, it all seems fitting and beautiful!
